International Motorcycle Transport
// GLOBAL LOGISTICS COORDINATION
Professional coordination for shipping your motorcycle internationally. Sea container and air cargo with the method validated on real transcontinental routes.
STRATEGY IN INTERNATIONAL MOTORCYCLE TRANSPORT.
Shipping a motorcycle between continents isn't a formality — it's a tactical operation. I've crossed the Atlantic and the Pacific managing customs and shipping companies. Avoid costly mistakes and endless delays with professional management built on real-world experience crossing the globe.
TRANSCONTINENTAL EXPERIENCE: BEYOND THE ROAD
Anyone can ride thousands of kilometres across a continent, but managing the transport of a motorcycle between continents demands a technical capability that very few people have. I've coordinated motorcycle shipments in sea containers and on international cargo planes, successfully navigating the most complex customs procedures at ports and airports. I know exactly which counter costs you days of travel time, where people try to scam you with non-existent customs fees, and why a mistake in securing the bike can end up with a bent frame.
INTERNATIONAL MOTORCYCLE TRANSPORT IS NOT A PARCEL SERVICE; IT IS A TECHNICAL NEGOTIATION WITH SHIPPING COMPANIES AND CUSTOMS AGENTS.
My service is not that of a generic transport agency. I am your personal Motorcycle Logistics Coordinator. I use the same trusted network I use to move my own bike: customs agents who have proven their efficiency in the port of Cartagena, at Mexico's airports, and in Chile's cargo logistics. I bring the documentary and technical security that only +110,000 km of real experience can provide.

CRITICAL ROUTES OF FREQUENT COORDINATION
COLOMBIA - PANAMÁ
The world's most complex border. No road exists — the only option is air or sea logistics coordination to avoid getting stuck in the jungle limbo of the Darién Gap.
Check Logistics Window →AMERICAS - EUROPE
Strategic transcontinental connection. Freight management from South American logistics hubs to the main ports and airports on the European continent.
Check Freight →EUROPE - SOUTH AMERICA
The leap to the end of the world. Coordinating entry through the Southern Cone ports to start or finish your expedition on the Pan-American route safely.
Check Routes →YOUR DESTINATION NOT LISTED?
I've coordinated motorcycle logistics missions across all 5 continents. Tell me about your project and we'll find the most efficient solution.
+ INFO →THE DILEMMA: SHIP OR PLANE?
THE SEA (CONTAINER)
The traditional option. Slower (21–45 days), with more port bureaucracy, but generally cheaper for long transatlantic routes. Ideal if you are not in a rush and want to save money.
- + Relatively low-cost
- + Fewer battery/fuel requirements
- - Risk of corrosion
- - Variable port fees
THE AIR (CARGO)
In 24–48 hours your bike is at the destination. Less handling, lower risk of damage, and far smoother paperwork at airports compared to ports. Sometimes the price difference is offset by what you save on hotels while waiting for the ship.
- + Extreme speed
- + Maximum security
- - Higher freight cost
- - Strict DGR requirements

MY MANAGEMENT METHOD FOR INTERNATIONAL MOTORCYCLE TRANSPORT
ROUTE & OPERATING COST AUDIT
Not every port, and not every month, carries the same cost. I carry out a technical analysis of air and sea cargo route availability to determine the most efficient departure point. The goal is to optimise the freight rate according to seasonality and avoid port congestion surcharges.
PREPARATION & CRATING ENGINEERING (IATA/DGR)
I advise you on the technical preparation protocol for the motorcycle under international regulations. This includes fluid management, disconnection of energy systems, and the design of the crate (technical packaging) required by IATA dangerous goods regulations. A properly prepared motorcycle is a motorcycle that does not get rejected at the cargo hangar.
REPRESENTATION BEFORE SHIPPING COMPANIES & AIRLINES
You don't negotiate with the logistics giant — I do. I act as your cargo intermediary, using my management volume to ensure your motorcycle is treated as a priority and not as a generic piece of freight. I supervise the Bill of Lading (BoL) or the Air Waybill (AWB) to ensure there are no documentary errors that halt transit.
CUSTOMS CLEARANCE PROTOCOL (TIP)
Direct coordination with my customs agents at the destination port or airport. The goal is that, upon arrival, the issuance of your TIP (Temporary Import Permit) becomes a fast-track process. I turn what is usually a three-day bureaucratic nightmare into a smooth one-hour administrative procedure.
HOW THE PROCESS WORKS
No surprises. Five clear steps from your first enquiry to your bike landing on the right continent.
Tell me about your project
You fill the form or message me on WhatsApp. I reply within 48 hours with specific questions about your bike, route and dates. No commitment, no fluff.
I study your real case
I review which ports and airports serve your route, which mode fits best (container, Ro-Ro, air) and the realistic timeframes the market offers right now. If the route isn't viable, I tell you.
Honest numbers, no padding
I request quotes from the agents I've already worked with and break it down for you: freight, port fees, customs broker, securing. No inflated prices or hidden commissions.
I handle all documentation
Paperwork, DGR certificate, professional securing, pre-shipment inspection report. I walk you through every step and verify everything before the bike leaves.
Updates until delivery
I keep you informed at every stage: departure, arrival at destination port/airport, customs clearance, pickup readiness. I don't disappear after getting paid.
STRAIGHT TALK
The international shipping market is volatile — wars, blockades, weekly rate changes. I won't lie to you with closed quotes or guaranteed timelines I can't control. Here's the honest truth about what I offer.
- +Active tracking from boarding to delivery
- +Updates at every step (departure, transit, arrival, customs)
- +Network of agents and shipping lines verified on my own routes
- +Securing supervision and documentary evidence pre-sealing
- +Ongoing advisory until your bike is in your hands
- +Honesty about what is viable and what isn't
- −Closed rates before quoting with agents
- −Exact timelines in volatile markets (strikes, blockades)
- −Miracle solutions when a port is closed
- −Last year's prices — freight rates move weekly
- −Guarantees that depend on third parties (carriers, customs)
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT INTERNATIONAL MOTORCYCLE TRANSPORT
CAN I SHIP THE BIKE WITH THE BAGS FULL?
Legally, the freight is quoted for the vehicle, not its contents. However, in air cargo, anything that is not the motorcycle must be declared and can alter the volumetric weight. In a sea container, the risk is theft at port during inspections.
Leave basic gear (helmet, jacket) if it is properly secured, but remove valuables. Customs can hold the bike if they consider the contents to be undeclared "commercial goods".
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN Ro-Ro AND A CONTAINER SHIPMENT?
Ro-Ro (Roll-on/Roll-off) is like a cargo ferry where the bike rides on board under its own power. It is cheaper, but the bike is exposed to salt air, humidity, and third-party contact. A Container (LCL/FCL) offers total protection and allows professional securing on a pallet or in a crate.
For an expedition trip, the container is the only option that guarantees your motorcycle and all its accessories arrive intact.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO I NEED TO START THE LOGISTICS PROCESS?
For a transoceanic crossing, planning must start 90 days in advance. Freight rates fluctuate weekly and space reservations in containers or air cargo holds fill up fast.
Don't wait until you reach the port to ask questions. Logistics is won in the planning phase, not at the customs counter.
WHAT IS THE DGR (DANGEROUS GOODS REGULATIONS) PROTOCOL?
Motorcycles are classified as UN3166 (Vehicles with combustion engine). This means that to fly or travel by sea, they must comply with the Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) protocol.
This means draining the tank to reserve level (depending on the airline), disconnecting the battery, and presenting a "Safe Loading" certificate. If this is not done, the bike does not get on the plane.
WHO IS RESPONSIBLE IF THE BIKE ARRIVES DAMAGED?
Shipping companies and airlines have limited liability per kilogram of cargo. Without a specific transport insurance policy and a pre-shipment inspection report (Surveyor report), making a damage claim is almost impossible.
As your coordinator, I supervise that the securing is done professionally and that documentary evidence of the bike's condition exists before sealing. If there is an option to take out separate insurance, I will let you know. Though the best way to collect on insurance is to never need it.

NEED ROUTE PLANNING TOO?
If besides shipping the bike you also need a clear plan for your trip, 1-on-1 consulting with a PDF roadmap is $59/h. One call and you walk away with a concrete plan.

Friend to friend...
Forget deciphering port or airport jargon. I know all too well that shipping the bike is the most nerve-wracking moment of a big trip — but the whole picture changes when you hand the coordination to someone who has managed this process dozens of times.
More than the transport itself, I offer you full logistics management. My job is to coordinate every step so that you leave your bike at one point, and when you land at your destination, your only task is to turn the key, feel the engine, and hit the road (it varies slightly for sea crossings at this point).
I've seen many travellers taint the start of their adventure through avoidable mistakes or unexpected extra costs. My goal is for you to focus solely on enjoying the new continent.
