QUICK ANSWER
For most riders, Argentina is the most accessible motorcycle-travel experience in South America: long, well-marked roads (Ruta 40, Ruta 3 to Ushuaia), simple entry paperwork if you arrive from a neighboring country, and a huge biker community that will help you along the way. The real challenge isn't the paperwork — it's the distance: stretches between towns can run 300-400 km with nothing in between.

Mercosur Insurance ("Carta Verde")
Since 2019 a digital copy is accepted — no physical paper needed. It covers third-party damage, not your own bike. Check with your home insurer whether your policy already includes it before buying a new one at the border.
FUEL
Fuel is available along all main routes, though in Patagonia stations can be 150-250 km apart — plan your tank range with a margin.
SAFETY
One of the safest countries in South America for motorcycle travel. Normal big-city precautions (overnight parking in Buenos Aires, Rosario) apply just like in any large city.
BEST SEASON
November to March for Patagonia (southern-hemisphere summer, southern routes open). The north (Salta, Jujuy) is rideable almost year-round.
